To first step of maintain it better that need periodic oiling to operate at maximum efficiency and make it perfect for runnable conditions.The frequency of oiling is depend basis on your shredding.Or you can find the manual to get more knowledge about that.How frequently you need to oil the cutting blades will depend on the span of use and the shred size and type of shredder(like cross cut,strip cut). A strip cut shredder need to oil less frequently than crosscut shredder,means cross cut required more because the shredding is more complicated in cross cut shredder and better if oiled every half hour of shredding(if the larger volume shredding required). Where strip cut shredder only used to cut the paper in a strip basis.But for a ¼ inch stripcut shredder which used per week maximum 2 to 4 hours need to oil properly twice in every 10 days.That’s enough.
The process is too simple and any operator can do it but better if you take help of a expert to do that to avoid damage or any kind of accident. By applying the shredder oil directly onto the cutting head of shredder you can Keep your shredder’s cutting blades properly lubricated.It should take about couple of seconds to oil from one side of the paper throat to the other throat. Turn the paper shredder in reverse for about 10-15 seconds, as this will allow the oil to spread to the different areas of the cutting head. Then shred a few sheets of paper to remove any excess oil or you can remove excess oil with a clean piece of cotton or cloth.But better if you will shred some paper at that time to reduce the quantity of excess oil.
Another most important part is the Shredder oilshredder oil is basically a lubricant which used to make shredder more workable.These oils ate specially formulated to avoid residue build up on the cutting blades which increase the performance of a shredder. T maintain a shredder requires proper oiling which can be done in house also.Process are too easy and take only 5 min time but that required.As other machine like xerox machine,swing machine etc all need to oiling in the same way that also required to oiling to keep it in working conditions for long time.The excessive oiling also not good.So after oiling need a paper (any kind of paper like newspaper,a4 size useless paper,calender etc) to shred which help to absorb the excessive oil form the blade.The next things have to take care that plugin point of the shredder.If any machine keep on for long time and forgot to switched off the plug or machine then any system can be damage even that can be possible for television,refrigerator,computer etc.For paper shredder that also very important.Earlier machine are not too high quality wise or technically strong by which those machine required more maintenance but now a days some high quality shredder introduced which requires less maintenance.Better to choose those machine.
